The Top Movies Of 2008 And How They Uniquely Entertained Us
In the year 2008, Americans and people around the world enjoyed a series of splendid new movie releases. It was one of the best years for Hollywood. Movie theaters across the country were packed all summer long with new blockbuster hits that entertained movie goers in every genre.
People in general love to watch movies. Video Business once published a series of statistics that indicated the average American views at least seven movies each month. Most of these movies are watched on DVD or as a download from their cable provider.
It seems like Hollywood has a hard time keeping up with the demand for new movies and films. It is estimated that Hollywood movie producers released almost 500 films during 2008 and the demand does not seem to be slowing. While some where blockbusters, others consisted of English-language films, which are, for a large part, adaptations or sequels.
When 2008 was fast coming to a close, movie critiques sought to render their best opinions for those movies that seemed to become major hits and for those that faded off into the movie land that time forgot. While it has been said that a well-known movie critic can make or break a movie by rendering their opinion publicly, the best movies will always be those that connect with you in a personal way.
The movies that received my two thumbs were movies that made me feel good inside. These movies not only transcended the criticisms of critics all over the country, but gained wide approval from movie goers in America and the rest of the world.
The year 2008 was a great year for Hollywood productions. It seems like each month a new hit movie was scheduled for theater release as previous ones were quickly phased out. DVD rentals and purchases experienced a huge upswing during the same year as many sought to archive their own personal collection of favorites.
There is no way to truly give significance to all of the movies released during the year. While many titles received accolades and awards for great performances, there are a lot of wonderful movies that never made it to the big screen. Most of them can be found on popular retail movie websites on the Internet.
While we all have our own preference for movies, my favorites for 2008 were: Wanted, Tropic Thunder, Slumdog Millionaire, Burn After Reading, The Visitor, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Gran Torino, WALL-E, Iron Man and The Dark Knight. Even though I viewed more movies than what is listed, these are the ones I highly recommend renting if you have not seen them. They are remarkably entertaining.
