Jeff Dunham And His Crazy Puppets

Jeff Dunham, raised as an only child, was successful, not only in the early stages of childhood, but throughout college as well. From the outside it appeared as if Jeff had done well, but from the inside, Dunham knew he never gave it his all. Jeff Dunham was born with a talent, one that has developed over time. Some think that was this talent that kept him from putting both feet forward in school; others have your standard opinions of “he’s an only child and bores easily”, “he’s a boy and cannot sit still”, and many other excuses.

Regardless, all of these qualities are what makes Dunham who he is today. Jeff has a gift that he has perfected over time, that allows him to say just about anything and people do not get mad at him or accuse him of being a nasty person. Somehow, someway, many of the “offensive” things he says, are blown off, laughed at, and later repeated as funny stories by his fans.

Dunham’s audiences are constantly going home and repeating jokes they heard at his show or on TV. While they may not pull it off quite like he does, they jokes are still funny. But one of the most fascinating things about this is the fact that people can say things, they normally couldn’t get away with, and people laugh because they know the source — Jeff Dunham. Dunham was not satisfied with the simple comedic part of his personality, or the standard ventriloquism you see. Instead, he creates characters, customized to each show, which he brings with him to bring his jokes to life — to make them real.

Whether you’ve seen Jeff on television, YouTube, or simply heard of some of his skits, he is entertaining just the same. What a lot of people do not know is that Jeff started out by performing at local fairs and even on Broadway; with one appearance with Mickey Rooney. This gave him the time to practice his skits along with perfect his characters that would travel with him to different destinations. Even though these were small gigs, Jeff began to be noticed.

Jeff Dunham’s first big gig was on none other than The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson back in 1990. For those who have watched Johnny Carson, or even had parents that watched and talked about him, know that Johnny Carson was picky about who he let appear on his show. After Carson had heard of the comedic talent of Jeff Dunham, he could resist having this phenomenal ventriloquist on his set. As they sat, side by side, that night, Jeff’s future was laid out for him.

After his appearance on Johnny Carson, Jeff Dunham began making appearances across North America. As he became more popular, and his name became better known, Jeff Dunham landed a gig on Comedy Central. It was this performance that got him noticed internationally, expanding his horizons exponentially.

Shortly thereafter, Dunham hosted three Comedy Central specials. It was during these specials that his suitcase characters, such as Jose the Jalapeno on a Stick, Walter, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Peanut, Sweet Daddy, Melvin the Superhero guy, the invisible tequila worm inside the bottle, and Bubba J began to be recognized and admired. Every show begins with audience anticipation as they wait anxiously for Jeff to open his suitcase and introduce his friend of the evening.

Jeff Dunham went on tour in North America where he made several stops before ending his tour in Anaheim, California. He visited places like Arizona, Virginia, Illinois, Iowa, Washington, and more. While there are always a good number of appearances on his agenda, tickets sell fast so be sure to stay up-to-date on Jeff Dunham’s latest tour schedule.
